This is the rainy season. Monthly rainfall often comes all on the same day, especially during winter storms.
Californians feel very cold on days when people from other parts of the country think it's warm. Please don't laugh at us, we can't help it!
The day after it rains, the skies are sometimes exceptionally clear and a photographer's delight!

What to Bring on a San Diego Vacation

  • Camera and lots of film.

  • Casual clothing. Except in the very nicest restaurants, you'll be fine in casual attire anywhere you go.

  • In winter, bring an umbrella and light rain coat. Don't be worried if you forget them, though. Every time it rains the shops in all the tourist areas sprout umbrellas like mushrooms after the rain.

  • If you plan to go across the border into Tijuana, it's a good idea to bring your passport, and it's essential to bring it, or proof of authorization to be in the United States if you are not a United States citizen.
